I received an e-mail from TRD registration earlier this week.  I can now login to my account and share my resume with the districts of my choice.  You are given a list of districts and schools interested in your certification area and you simply check off the boxes next to the schools that pique your interest and submit the form.  I just checked my account a few minutes ago, and found a new school in my list.  I suggest checking regularly to make sure that your resume makes the rounds.  If you need to update your resume, you may edit your registration details and attach a new resume to your credentials.  The deadline for sharing your resume with the schools participating in the 2010 Erie/Niagara TRD is 6 P.M. February 24, 2010.

School districts have until March 19, 2010 to contact you to setup an interview at TRD.  Check your e-mail and voicemail regularly to secure your interview time slot.  If you are not contacted by March 19, 2010, you have not been selected to participate in this year's TRD.  This will likely be my third (or fourth) time attending TRD, and I have always been able to get at least one interview with a district.  One year, I scheduled 7 interviews!  Keep in mind that these are screening interviews.  You should not expect to be hired at TRD.  However,  I have been offered some undesirable jobs at TRD on the spot.  Rule of thumb:  if they're offering you a job on the spot, it's probably not a good one, and you're not the first person to turn them down.

Bonus Round!  If you have been contacted for an interview and are eligible to attend TRD at the Convention Center on April 16, 2010, you may be able to score additional interviews via a lottery process.  Cancellations, no-shows, and unfilled slots leave recruiters bored.  They contact the TRD administrators, announce the slot, collect resumes, and draw a name out of a hat.  It's kind of fun.  I never won an interview that way, but I have seen people win time with high profile districts through this lottery process.

]]> http://blog.teachwny.com/wnyric-jobs-february-6-2010/feed/ 0 Buffalo Area Teacher Recruitment Days (TRD) – April 15-16, 2010 http://blog.teachwny.com/buffalo-area-teacher-recruitment-days-trd-april-15-16-2010/ http://blog.teachwny.com/buffalo-area-teacher-recruitment-days-trd-april-15-16-2010/#comments Wed, 03 Feb 2010 22:18:58 +0000 teachwny http://blog.teachwny.com/?p=662 The Buffalo Area Teacher Recruitment Days are scheduled for April 15-16, 2010 at the Buffalo Convention Center on Franklin Street.  School districts from Erie and Niagara County will interview applicants for potential positions on Friday, April 16, 2010.  Pre-registration is required to attend TRD.  In years past, the applicant would need to bring in piles of neatly stapled resumes on heavy bond paper to their college's career center to be eligible to participate in TRD.  Now, the application process has been simplified into a two-step online form that requires basic information to determine your eligibility and an electronic copy of your resume.

TRD ERIE/NIAGARA REGISTRATION PROCESS:

  1. Register online - Registration will start at 8 a.m. on February 1, 2010 and will continue until 6 p.m. on February 22, 2010. Space is limited; you are encouraged to register early.
  2. Share your resume with districts interested in your certification area - Once you are deemed eligible, you will receive an email around February 16 which will contain information you need about sharing your resume with participating school districts beginning February 17 at 8 a.m.

TRD USA REGISTRATION PROCESS:

  1. Pre-registration is required for TRD USA and must be completed online. Registration will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 and will continue until Thursday, March 18, 2010 at midnight. Registration capacity is limited. We encourage you to register early. Based on the number of districts attending and their certification needs, priority may be given to December 2009 and May 2010 graduates.
  2. Registration cost is $10.00 and is not refundable. Payment for TRD USA is by credit card only.

TRD ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Participants must be able to meet all certification requirements by September 1, 2010 and be:

  1. A currently enrolled bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree candidate or received a degree from one of the participating institutions. (Graduate students must have completed a minimum of 6 graduate credit hours by May 30, 2010, if they did not obtain a degree from one of the schools listed). OR
  2. Attending one of the participating institutions listed for certification only, or have received certification through one of the participating institutions
